About

I must have inherited my love of travel from my mother, who probably got it from her mother, judging from stories and photos.  My mother was ready to go anywhere, and so am I!

We started traveling the United States when my mother bought a small travel trailer with her teacher’s salary when I was about 7, and we made our first overseas journey when I was in college.  That was when flying was still fun, and you dressed up for the trip!  My parents and I went to London for a week–for $1000 for the the 3 of us!

I am originally from Mt. Clemens, Michigan, about 20 miles north of Detroit.  I graduated from Oakland University in Rochester, MI, and went on to complete a Master’s in Christian Education at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL.  Moving to Portland, OR in 1981, I received a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from Portland State University in 1994.

From 1984-2005, I served as the Director of Christian Education at First United Methodist Church in Portland, OR.  It was a terrific place to be, providing opportunities to work with all ages, in a creative and challenging environment.  My special interest continued to be working with Senior Adults, and in 1994 we began a travel program.

Our first overseas tour was to Hong Kong & China, and we continue to explore the world.  Tours have included  Alaska, Australia and New Zealand, multiple river and coach tours in Europe, Russia and Estonia, Costa Rica, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.

I continue to coordinate and escort tours through First United Methodist Church in Portland, as well as occasional tours independently.
